I am not like David

Vindicate me, O LORD, for I have led a blameless life; I have trusted in the LORD without wavering.Psalm 26:1

Wow. I don’t think I could ever say this. Vindicate means justify. Justify means, “To declare free of blame; absolve”.

I was reading this chapter of Psalms today & I immediately thought, “I would be afraid to say this.” I have definitely not led a blameless life, nor have I consistently trusted in the Lord without wavering (have I ever?). I am definitely not like David.

God, may I be continually changing to be the person you have called me to be. I want to be able to say that you can vindicate me because my walk is blameless. It seems this is an impossible dream, but you are God & you are able to do amazing things in me, as you already have. You truly are awesome, God. Amen.

My awesome kids

I haven’t posted any pictures on here yet, but I just had to share this one because I thought it was adorable. I was in the other room, then walked into the living room because my son, Sam, was saying, “Sammy’s too big!” This is what I saw.

"Sammy's too big!"

The Power of Jesus

August 22, 2008 at 2:09 am (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , )

John 17:2 says, For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him.”

I was reading a commentary on John 17 as I read it this evening. The commentary on verse 2 explains how God gave Jesus authority over every person – whether they were going to believe in Jesus or oppose him completely – so that Jesus can still give eternal life to those who will receive it. Eternal life means to know God fully; we’re not just talking about heaven here!  I know this sounds redundant – reading the verse & then what I typed – but it stood out to me. I thought it was really neat how even though throughout the years people have tried to stop Christianity (Christ-followers), they couldn’t. Why? Not because Christians are awesome, but because Jesus has the power over everyone.  I don’t care who you are; if you deny that He exists, it doesn’t make him non-existent. He not only lives today but he has power over you.

For those who don’t believe in Jesus right now, this should make you want to give up trying to not believe in Him or prove his non-existence. There’s good news for you though. Jesus loves YOU. No matter what you’ve done, said, or tried to prove otherwise, He still loves you & will NEVER stop chasing you.  He wants you to be one of those talked about in John 17:2 – “…those you have given him.”

Don’t know what to do now? Start by reading the Gospel of John. It’s awesome. It’s all about Jesus & it’s all about the truth. He loves you, and so do I. Feel free to post here or email me if you have any questions. I’d be happy to help you understand more about God & his love for you.

In Jesus’ Name

August 16, 2008 at 3:54 am (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , )

This post is open to not only comments, but suggestions on how to find answers to my questions.  The following questions may seem silly, but I want to ask them cuz I’ve been thinking about them for awhile now.

Why is it that we are so hesitant to believe the Bible?  I keep trying to find something that tells me why NOT to believe verses like John 14:13-14 or John 15:7.  Why do we not believe that if we are doing the will of God, and that God is in us, that when we ask for things in Jesus’ name (which means in accordance to His will – not just a “tag line” at the end of prayer) that it’ll happen? Why do we doubt?

Is it something I’m not understanding because I don’t know the original language & context? Or do we use that as an excuse to not have enough faith to believe it will happen? I’m not into that whole “name it & claim it” – mostly because I don’t think I’m the boss of God.  However, doesn’t God want us to ask in Jesus’ name & see what can happen so that HE can be glorified?

Thank you in advance for any comments and suggestions directing me to the answers to my many questions. Hopefully I’ll get to post a longer blog soon.  Love you all!

Another divine appointment!

August 1, 2008 at 2:45 am (Uncategorized) (, , )

Wow. I was so excited today that I got to pray with yet another craigslist person on the phone! This time we were buying something from someone, and I had left a message for them. They called back later & said the reason they didn’t answer was because they were at the ICU of the hospital with their son & couldn’t answer their phones. Long story short, their 10-month old son has hydrocephalus (too much spinal fluid in the head/brain) and had to have brain surgery! I said that must be hard & she went on to say that she has a one month old also & 4 other older children. I asked what the son’s name was that had the surgery so I could pray for him and she said Chase. I said, “oh, that’s my pastor’s son’s name!” Anyway, then I asked her if she had the time for me to pray with her on the phone & she agreed. Later when Chris picked up the item we bought, Chris said he’d be praying for Chase. She said, “oh, your wife just prayed for me on the phone!” It was really neat to be able to minister to someone. Who knew craigslist would help me be a light for Jesus!  Don’t forget to take the opportunity to be a light… even when you don’t expect it’ll happen! It’s happened to me 2 times in a row!
